Baroque Arias and Arabic Songs | Nuria Rial | Dima Orsho | Musica Alta Ripa
These two great artists, the Catalan Nuria Rial and Dima Orsho from Syria interpret an idiosyncratic and moving programme that combines baroque arias and traditional Arabic songs. The music from these two worlds comes closer together than one can expect in their emotional depth and sensuality.
Mothers have always been a fascinating subject of art and music. The way, the image of a mother is conceived, is strongly influenced by the social and cultural context. Despite all obvious differences between the cultures, the idea of motherhood includes always a certain spirit of feeling at home – a fact that makes this topic especially appealing with regard to today’s European societies of migration and cultural mixture.
Founded in Hannover, the specialized Early Music ensemble Musica Alta Ripa is known for its exceptionally high artistic level, vivid interpretations, flexible instrumentations and appealing programmes. Thus the ensemble has already been invited to perform at important concert venues and festivals such as Tage Alter Musik Herne, Bachfest Leipzig, Festival van Vlaanderen Brugge and Bach Festival in Philadelphia. Furthermore Musica Alta Ripa toured the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
A recording of the programme has been released at SONY MUSIC under the name MOTHER – BAROQUE ARIAS AND ARABIC SONGS.

Reviews
Both singers show their entire mastery, in a very touching way: Rial crystal clear and soulful, Orsho – also represented with two of her own fascinating compositions – expressive in her vocal modulations. Concerti | Eckard Weber | June 27, 2019
